Transform Tuesday -- Boys' Bedroom Makeover

Since I just reorganized my blog, this is my very first Transform Tuesday and I am so excited!!!

We actually re-did my sons' bedroom a while ago, but I never posted pictures.  Well, here you go!  I got the idea from a room that I found on HGTV's rate my space (before they turned it into a TV show).  I can't find it now, so I apologize to the woman out there whose room was my inspiration.  This room cost very little money, but took a lot of patience and time...you'll see why.

Before:  Nothing pretty!

After:  A little boy's dream!

That is not a wallpaper border.  I actually painted those stripes.  The tractors, trains, etc are Wallies.  You just get them wet and stick them to the wall.  It is a sticky/messy job and takes a bit of time, but so stinkin' cute!
Our neighbors gave us this fan when they re-did their son's room.  My husband had to cut a hole in the ceiling, crawl up in the attic, and run new electrical wiring to insall it and the lights above the closet.  Yeah, I know...I totally scored in the husband department.
Here is a close up of the stripes.  We used a self adjusting laser level to get the lines perfectly straight and then just taped along the lines.  Taping and painting these lines took for-e-ver, but it was totally worth it.  Oh, and want to know how to get perfect lines without paint bleeding under your tape?  Don't use the cheap blue tape.  Buy this stuff.  It totally works.  Once I took the tape off, I did not have to retouch ANYTHING!
I think I'm going to get some vinyl lettering to go over the door.  I'll post it when I do it.  I can just see it saying, "Ready, Set, Go!"  or something similiar.
No kid's bedroom is complete without handmade quilts from Grandma!!
I love that there are toy cars under their beds.  My 2 year old sleeps with them and sometimes they fall off the bed.  And yes, I totally left them there.  :)

Do you have something you have transformed?  Leave a link to the blogpost (not the blog itself) in the comments and share it with us!!

I also kinked up to these fantastic linky parties.  Go check them out!!

I'm impressed with the transformation! Your kids will definitely love this room. It's a little dark inside though. I guess that's because of the paint color, so I hope you got the right lighting to balance the ambiance of the room. The ceiling fan is a brilliant idea; makes you feel you're riding an airplane.
