Transform Tuesday -- Fireplace Makeover

One of the things we LOVED about our house when we bought it was the fireplace.  I know it isn't everyone's taste, but we absolutely love it.  You can imagine how sad we were to find out that it wasn't safe to use!

Before:  The original fireplace grate was so UGLY.

After:  This after picture represents lots of frustration and hard work (don't ask...it's a really really long, expensive, hard lesson to learn kind of story) In the end, we finally got the fireplace into working order.  Eventually we will add a beefy mantle that I can actually decorate without worrying that everything will fall off of the 4 inch ledge that is currently there.  We will also change out the picture for one fits the decor of the room and the space better.  For now, we are quite happy with it!

p.s. Mr. Wonderful installed that wood burning stove by himself.  He also had to redo the fire box that the stove sits in and take down and replace 10 layers of brick at the top of the chimney.  Yeah, I'm definitely one lucky girl.

Thanks for hosting your party! You are lucky (as am I) to have a handy husband who is willing to put the time and effort into making your lives better. Hiring someone would be a severe budget hit, too!
